In the picturesque green landscape of Pla de l’Estany, right by the crystal-blue waters of the iconic Lake Banyoles, stands Can Morgat – a historic country house overlooking the lake’s green shores and the rising hills surrounding Espai Natura Can Morgat, a protected sanctuary of lagoons and wildlife.

With its foundations laid by the Morgat family many centuries ago, Can Morgat has witnessed far more than most of us could possibly grasp or imagine... 🙂
Farmers at heart, the Morgats were resourceful people guided by resilience, intuition, and a deep respect for nature.
Beyond the Fields
With each new generation, they kept on building meaningful connections across the region and gradually grew into roles of importance and contribution beyond their own farmland.
If only the stones of Can Morgat could speak, they would certainly have many stories to share... 🙂

Widely remembered is a captivating story of the day when the waters of Lake Banyoles arose from the depths of farmer Morgat’s fields, forming the lake as we know it today.
Another legend speaks of the Dragon of Banyoles, a mythical creature believed to have called the lake its home.

As its new custodians, we are deeply inspired by its rich heritage and dedicated to restoring its beauty while breathing new life and purpose into it.
